porcelain prints

I was mooching around my local haberdashery (a.k.a my second home) when I found this totally stunning printed linen. It was looking lonely so I had to buy it. I've since seen loads of blue-white porcelain print inspired fabrics and found a few to share with you.

The clever folk at Zara have put together a stunning look (below) using blue and white.

I found the fabrics below (left) at Michel Miller Fabrics (Pagoda Garden and Birds on the Vine) and the STUNNING wallpaper (right) is Coleridge by Cole & Son.

I always find something very wantable at Mr Price Home and they did not disappoint with this 100% cotton throw (P.S. if they have sold out of this particular one, they often have blue and white one's that are very similar).
Here are some more you might like... they are (left to right) Intrigue Zanzibar (St Leger), Altes (Home Fabrics), Goma (Home Fabrics), Tessa Proudfoot (St Leger).

And if you like a frock or two, feast your eyes on these. I think they're all fabulous!

I never tire of toile and these top ones from St Leger are awesome. Chiang Mai Dragon (bottom) by Shumacher Fabrics is also an all time favourite of mine (check out their other colour way too - it's stunning).

Last but not least, I give you Thibaut by St Leger. I'm absolutely crazy about the oversize print on the sofa. (Very forgiving of dog hair and dirty feet too :)

Cheers for now nerds x :)

Topical tropical

Is tropical still topical? Well, I think it is. In 2015 Hertex launched their Tropical range and I have to say, it still makes my heart beat. I've just come back (again) from a holiday in KZN and these gorgeous prints remind me so much of the lush North KZN coast.

My absolute FAVOURITE fabric in the tropical range is Girolata (left). It's printed on the most sublime linen and I was lucky enough to bag a barrel bag that's made out of it. I also love Pina Colada (Middle) because I actually love Pina Colada's. Zen Garden (right) isn't from the same range but is a long time favourite of mine because of the incredible colouring.
You're not leafing now are you (sorry, bad pun :) I do like the palm prints and of course, they would work wonderfully in conservatories and verandas.
They've included some awesome complementing fabrics that are easy on the eye, easy to use and fairly neutral in look-and-feel. I do love the painted broad stripe. Luuuurvly.

Cheerio for now, see you next time nerds x

Samba like it hot

Deep down I know that you associate Jane Churchill with "safe", soft, feminine, Englishy fabrics. It's OK, I did too before I got to know their range a little better. Their range - Samba - is from 2015 but I still love it and find it fun and bright and easy to use.

The geometric on the headboard below is really versatile and would work well for a children's room if you don't want it to date too quickly.

The combination of soft pink with strong pink and orange is fresh and unconventional.

The cross stitch styled floral is just stunning and I think the denim-look blue plain on the sofa is an absolute winner.

You know how some people say that they just don't like florals (it's madness, I know!) well, the floral on a black background just makes it less pretty-pretty. You know, if you were to be persuaded by a floral and all :)

I never met an embroidery I didn't like and the design below (Maracatu) is just too, too stunning for words.

And with that, I bid you goodnight :),
Till next time nerds x

Christian Lacroix by Designers Guild

I was mooching around dreaming of Spring when an email landed on my desk with just the thing...

To be honest, I didn't really know that Christian Lacroix did fabrics (shame on me!) but I really, really love these. They're bold and colourful and and not too serious. You can find the full range on the Designers Guild website here.

And because they're so smart, they made a stunning rug too!

These beauties (above) are called Jardin and Canopy. So much of lovely!

I'm mad for the floral on the black background. It's quirky (even if this little sofa looks, well, a little little :)

The bottom design called Wild Palms is exotic and rich and reminds me of floor tiles in Morocco or Turkey or somewhere (I've never been to either but one day .... )

Butterfly prints have the potential to be a little bit twee but these are strong and gorgeous.

Au revoir nerds x :)

wonderful, wonderful By Nord Copenhagen

How do I love thee bed linen? Let me count the ways...

One of my favourite activities (aside from wrapping presents that is) is putting on fresh bed linen. Also, I'm often on the hunt for interesting design that at gender neutral but still punchy. Needless to say, these STUNNING duvet and scatter cushion covers took my breath away. You can get them from By Nord Copenhagen here.

Farval nerds, see you soon x :)

pales by comparison

By now you would've pegged me as a big fan of colour. And you would be right, except that I like all kinds of colours - strong and soft. I saw the image below at Designers Guild (you can check them out here) and fell in love with the gentle hues. Frankly, I love the whole look.

I went on a big hunt to find some gorgeous fabrics in these colours and look what I found at St Leger (top panel). Then I looked a bit more and found some more at U&G (bottom squares).
And if you're worried that the look is TOO soft, you can always make your pieces up in a very unfussy way - like these clever people have.

Designers Guild have pieced together the palette beautifully (top left) and I like how these have been translated by Zara Home (all the other pics in the collage).

My local scrounging for fabrics using this palette didn't end there and I found these at Hertex
(left to right: Brushed, Parfait, Glossy, Vici, Parfait and Parfait again).
It's almost inevitable that Colefax and Fowler (below) would nail this look 'coz it's kind of their "thang". The floral is just too, too lovely!
Aaand, all inspired by Colefax and Fowler's floral, I found these gorgeous ones at U&G (left) and Zoffany (right - St Leger).

And to round off I will leave you with the wonderful legacy that is Sanderson. Take me to this cottage!

Sayonara nerds, till next time x :)

grey stoked

Grey skies are gone and the sun is a-shining but there's no getting away from the timeless, classic beauty of grey. It's also the colour of wonderful things like elephants and rhino so what's not to love, eh?

I know I say this all the time about all the fabrics and colours and sofa's and stuff - but I do really, really want this grey velvet, deep buttoned sofa.
(Image via: www.softnethouse.com)
Plain grey too grey for you? I do fancy these combinations. Clockwise they are Esprit, broadloom, Neverland and Esprit again all from Hertex.
And how cool is this classic-contemporary look from Designers Guild? I really like how they've mixed a light grey and dark grey on the sofa. Veeeery cool.

The contrasting piping and gold woodwork makes this look elegant but unpredictable.

(Image via: www.e14info)
Looking for more local greys? I found these ones below at U&G. Well priced and in greys with all sorts of undertones (P.S. The gauzy one at the very bottom makes up beautifully).

One day when I grow up I want to own one of these day beds. Grey and natural is always a winner and Lizzo (below via St Leger) has put it all together just right.

Much as I love white, white doesn't stay white very long in our house #dogs #kids #life. That's why I'm loving this grey bedlinen.

One last word in local greys...I do love these (Brushed and Sateena are my favourite - very touchable) all by Hertex.

(Left to right: Brushed, Brushed, Quill, Sateena, Stone Age, Vidi)

Ciao for now fellow fabric nerds x :)

shake your teal feathers...

I can't tell a lie. Teal is one of those colours that just do it for me and I never saw a person that didn't look fabulous in teal. True story. It was hard to whittle down the number of gorgeous images that I found online showcasing teal in all it's glory, I thought these offered a good mix of mood.

Teal and natural. A natural choice. This teal sofa adds a touch of elegance to the industrial mood concrete wall.
(Image via www.freedom.com.au)
Looking for some local great teal deals? The ones below are Glossy, Straightlaced, Cross stitch, Broadloom, Brushed and um, one other, - all from Hertex.

Designer's Guild (above) have done a magnificent job combining plum and old rose with teal. (Well of course they have - they're Designer's Guild!)

The fabric below is Neverland by Hertex and it's one of my all time favourites. Great texture and great colours.

The teal delights below are all from U&G.

The stunning, styled image above is via Pintrest. The splashes of yellow give it a bit of a retro vibe.

And I leave you with the exotic print Pheasant by Home Fabrics and two stunning plains, Misa Bahamas - a luxurious satin and Conch Misa, both by Hertex.

Till next time nerdos! x
